Youth and Family Ministry

The Youth and Family Ministry at Unity of Toledo is dedicated to the spiritual unfoldment of this world's most precious resource - the children. To help our young people, infants through high school age, understand their oneness with God, we offer Sunday school classes that meet at the same time as the adult Sunday worship services. Our devoted group of volunteer teachers are knowledgeable in Unity principles and receive ongoing training that allows them to use Unity based curriculum to the utmost potential. Through the use of Bible and other stories and the practical life application of these stories, children are able to travel their own spiritual paths. In addition to the Bible, the use of virtues (the goodness or God traits that are within each of us) is emphasized in every class.
Nursery
Birth through age 3
Teachers: Judy Hanes, Susan Schick & Lois Hart
The Nursery provides a nurturing place for infants and toddlers to learn and grow. The infant/toddler curriculum encourages each beloved child of God to retain the perfection they were born with.
Preschool & Elementary
Ages 4-10
Teachers: Shirley Rotterdam & Rose Gyurko
Our Preschool and Elementary age children enjoy classes which involve an object lesson, prayer and guided meditation, and joy-songs as well as an opportunity to practice prosperity principles monthly through our Seed Penny Sunday & Penny Sunday services. Seed Penny Sunday is the 3rd Sunday of each month. On this Sunday the children give pennies, from their own love offering collections, to each adult in the service. Through Seed Penny Sunday they learn the joy of giving. Penny Sunday is the 4th Sunday of each month. On Penny Sunday the children pass through the isles and collect loose change form the adults. Through the collection processes the children learn the joy of receiving. At the end of each service the children enter the sanctuary, lead the adults in The Prayer For Protection and join in the singing the closing song.
Uniteen:
Preteens between the ages of 11-13 or middle school grades 6-8
Teachers: Anne-Marie Feikema and Odessa Lynch
This group meets each Sunday to explore spiritual truths. The Uniteen group provides a safe place for our youth in their preteen years (Middle school) to connect with others and to explore what they believe. This age group can be very active. Most groups meet for social outings to provide a place for our preteens to socialize and to develop healthy relationships. Twice a year our Uniteens attend the regional Unitreats. These occasions provide daylong or weekend events for spiritual exploration.
Y.O.U., Youth of Unity
Teens between the ages of 14-18 or high school grades 9-12

The Youth of Unity group is a very active ministry. Teens gather on Sunday to explore and discover spiritual truths and how that relates to their daily lives. Local YOU groups are called a Chapter. The chapter at Unity of Toledo also meets at other times to do service in our church community, have social events and attend regional and International events.
